The problem with mediawiki
The problem with Mediawiki is that every site that uses it looks like Wikipedia. Wikipedia is a big project, with a specific goal and a specific audience. It even has a specific ’state of information’: clear, dense, objective. Therefore, it should have a distinct visual identity that sets it apart from ‘the rest of the internet’.
For example, imagine what a Klu Klux mediawiki site would do to Wikipedia’s identity. Or the other way around, what kind of legitimacy this identity would give to the site in question.
Since I like Wikipedia’s layout, I feel Mediawiki should deliver another theme as its standard layout.
