Watching LG’s media player

I’ve had the chance to buy LG products for very low prices since early this year, and since then I’ve been watching the MF-HE700 media player. It is kind of iPod-like, with a color screen and the ability to play both videos and .ogg files. The drawback of its bigger size is compensated by the low price.

The problem is that it’s supposed to be available since dec ‘04, and it is still nowhere to be seen. Therefore, I’ve setup a google watch on the query ‘LG MF-HE700′, which works very well. Recently CNET Asia published an article about LG’s mp3 range, along with (what seem to be) final specs for the 700. I’ve seen claims for 30GB storage and 30 hours of audio playback, but it seems that was too optimistic.

Update: For those interested in the MF-HE700, I will post updates about it as comments to this post whenever I see news about it.

Final Update: Since I have now bought an iPod mini, I am now no longer following news on this LG player.

The Korean giants are coming! Interesting article about the MP3 player market at the Korea Times.

It seems the MF-HE700 has digital output, but it is also quite big, and still unavailable for sale.
