My first bugfix
Open Source works. But only if the TikiWiki people decide to implement my little bugfix
I discovered a bug in TikiWiki, and I fixed it. This is the error I got when adding a comment to a forum topic:
Notice: Undefined variable: dbTiki in
/home/sjh/public_html/cicircle/lib/tikilib.php on line 265
Invalid db object passed to CommentsLib constructor
After getting the latest version (1.9-branch via CVS) of the file in question, the bug was still there. So I filed bug request 1174695 in the Tik bug list.
Only after finding it, I noticed ithis bug was already discovered by someone else in another Tiki version (1.8.5). Maybe this means they won’t implement my fix either? Of course it is now neatly filed in their buglist, so they have no excuse.
I’d happily volunteer to do some whining in the right forum, or even to commit my patch to CVS, but I found the developer community not very accessible. Probably all I need is a short IRC chat in the right channel.
Update (2005-04-28): This bug is now fixed.
