Aardvark disclosed

Aarvark’s product name is SidePilot. Although the Aardvark site is still acting in secrecy, the SidePilot site is already up. I already figured out it had something to do with VNC (based on .exe size of the two similar open-source components, and the name of a variable), but I didn’t get the ‘more of a service than a product’ aspect. Should have read the clues better: it was announced that it would work trough every firewall.

Basically, what they’re building is a service to tunnel a VNC session, combined with executables that don’t need installing and a web page to start it all up. It removes the hassle out of VNC’ing. Should be useful, although a price of $10/day is somewhat over the top I think.

Update: apparently, SidePilot was not the chosen name. Instead, it’s CoPilot. 2005-07-18
