Word smarter than Kurzweil?
Ray Kurzweil claims that MS Word is more complex than the human brain.
Eh?
Word was first written in 1983. The human genome exists at least hunder thousand years. Which, do you think, has more condensed complexity?
MS Word contains rules for behaviour of a text manipulation engine. The genome contains rules for the production of an intelligence creation factory (brain cells). Which one do you think will produce the more intelligent system?
Complex systems: lots of small parts together can be more intelligent than the sum of the parts combined. Multiply 40.000.000 bytes by, say, the number of brain cells divided by ten thousand. Do you still think software is smarter than life? [I just don't see an array of 100.000 Word installations produce documents that are any better than the usual]
Too bad he didn’t claim Word is smarter than the brain. Becayse then one could reply that Word is, for sure, smarter than mr. Kurzweil
On the other hand… Maybe software already is smarter than a newborn kid? Fascinating stuff.
