Pisses me off:

• Moving your RSS feed first, and blog about it afterwards, so that subscribers to the old feed will never now.

• Adding links without the ‘http://’ prefix. They don’t work in all browsers (no, www.google.com is NOT a page on your webserver). Test before you publish.

• Writing only about the blog itself

• Spelling errors. I’m working on that. Seriously.

• People from kv32 who also take an interest in lucid dreaming
• Co-bloggers
• Authors of books I have read

Hij nodigt me uit om een meme voor te zetten: ‘bespreek je favoriete software plugins’.

Wel, op Firefox extensions for web development heb ik er al enkele besproken. Hier de meer ‘dagelijkse’:

• All-in-one gestures. Ik ben verslaafd aan mouse gestures: met rechterknop ingedrukt een beweging maken, en hup, de tab is gesloten of actief gemaakt, of de abeelding is ingezoomd. Extreem handig om te surfen zonder de bekende muis-klavier-muis bewegingen te moeten maken met de rechterhand. Eens aan het keyboard zijn er natuurlijk de bekende shortcuts (Ctrl+W! Ctrl+L! Ctrl+T!).

• Sage. Ik volg een groeiende lijst van blogs en wiki’s en photostreams en kalenders en (voeg zelf toe…) via RSS. Sage fungeert in mijn sidebar als RSS reader. Zeker niet perfect, maar oh zo simpel en effectief. Waarom moeilijk doen?

• Spellbound. Ik zit al een tijdje zonder ‘web-formulier spellchecker’ vanwege een versieconflict. En ik mis hem echt, die betrouwbare spelvriend… Ongelooflijk wat een kemels je schiet als je hem niet hebt. Overigens kunnen Konqueror en Firefox 2.0 (in alpha) dit van huis uit.

Verder ook nog heel handig zijn colorful tabs en één van de vele del.icio.us plugins.

As always, I donated some money to the organisation and received a t-shirt and an O’Reilly book in return. Saturday evening I didn’t go to the closing session, because, well, you never win the draw anyway.

Well, guess I was wrong! Sunday morning I was already charging the Nokia 770 internet tablet. And it’s a great product: very small, nice design, good battery life, easy bluetooth and WiFi discovery, and above all a sharp, bright screen (800×480 resolution). It runs Maemo, the Debian derivative created for it by Nokia, and Opera mobile as the browser. Too bad the RS-MMC slot does not accept plain SD cards – that would’ve allowed me to directly browse pictures taken with the camera.

It has RSS and PDF reader applications, and it plays audio and video. In the coming weeks, I’m planning to get root access to the device and install some additional Maemo packages.

Update: I am actually typing this update on the 770 now, and Opera is behaving really well — even on Gmail. Only hours ago I had some fun leeching internet connectivity at a bus stop. Open WiFi networks are really ubiquitous in Antwerp, apparently

De deelnemers aan de stadsblog mechelen blogt kwamen er samen om elkaar ook eens in het echt te ontmoeten.

Het werd een geslaagde avond met gevarieerde discussies tussen bloggers van allerlei pluimage, die tot in de late uurtjes uitliep.

Met technische (en grafische) ondersteuning van ondergetekende.
